Some of us believe that rest is a four-letter word. We feel guilty
when our bodies and / or minds are not busy. But that is not God's intent.
He built rest into His Law, into His spiritual providence for us and even
into His creation. One definition of rest: The Greek word in Matthew 11:29,
is anapausis, "cessation, refreshment." Today we will see several passages
about the rest God desires for us, both physical and spiritual.Today we will

Physical Rest
Exo 20:10 (NNAS) But the seventh day is a sabbath of the
LORD your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter,
your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays
with you.
Gen 5:28-29 (NNAS) Lamech lived one hundred and eighty-two
years, and became the father of a son. Now he called his name Noah, saying,
"This one will give us rest from our work and from the toil of our hands
arising from the ground which the LORD has cursed.
Josh 1:13 (NNAS) Remember the word which Moses the servant
of the LORD commanded you, saying, "The LORD your God gives you rest and
will give you this land."
Mark 6:30-41 (NNAS) The apostles gathered together with
Jesus; and they reported to Him all that they had done and taught.And He

A Restful Spirit
Exo 33:14 (NNAS) And He said, "My presence shall go with
you, and I will give you rest."

Jer 6:16 (NNAS) Thus says the LORD, "Stand by the ways
and see and ask for the ancient paths, Where the good way is, and walk in
it; And you will find rest for your souls. But they said, "We will not walk
in it."
Mat 11:28-29 (NNAS) "Come to Me, all who are weary and
heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.Take My yoke upon you and learn from
Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR
SOULS."
Rev 14:13 (NNAS) And I heard a voice from heaven, saying,
"Write, 'Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on!' " "Yes,"
says the Spirit, "so that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds
follow with them."
