Hi everyone. : ) This week we will look at a little of what the Bible has
to say about children. As I have said before, some of Jesus' strongest words
were for those who would cause harm to children.
(Mat 18:6 NNAS) but whoever causes one of these little
ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy
millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the
sea.
(Mat 19:13-14 NNAS) Then some children were brought to
Him so that He might lay His hands on them and pray; and the disciples rebuked
them. 14 But Jesus said, "Let the children alone, and do not hinder
them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as
these."
(Eph 6:1-4 NNAS) Children, obey your parents in the Lord,
for this is right. 2 HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER (which is the
first commandment with a promise), 3 SO THAT IT MAY BE WELL WITH
YOU, AND THAT YOU MAY LIVE LONG ON THE EARTH. 4 Fathers, do not
provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and
instruction of the Lord.
(Col 3:20-21 NNAS) Children, be obedient to your parents
in all things, for this is well-pleasing to the Lord. 21 Fathers,
do not exasperate your children, so that they will not lose heart.
(1 Tim 3:4-5 NNAS) He must be one who manages his own
household well, keeping his children under control with all dignity
5 (but if a man does not know how to manage his own household,
how will he take care of the church of God?)
(Titus 2:3-4 NNAS) Older women likewise are to be reverent
in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching
what is good, 4 so that they may encourage the young women to
love their husbands, to love their children
(Prov 22:6 NNAS) Train up a child in the way he should
go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it.
(1 Cor 7:14 NNAS) For the unbelieving husband is sanctified
through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified through her believing
husband; for otherwise your children are unclean, but now they are holy.
(2 Cor 12:14 NNAS) Here for this third time I am ready
to come to you, and I will not be a burden to you; for I do not seek what
is yours, but you; for children are not responsible to save up for their
parents, but parents for their children.
