I know that some of you are hurting. Let's look at what the Word has to say
about God's comfort for us.
(Psa 119:50 NASB) "This is my comfort in my affliction,
That Thy word has revived me."
(Isa 12:1 NASB) "Then you will say on that day, "I will
give thanks to Thee, O LORD; For although Thou wast angry with me, Thine
anger is turned away, And Thou dost comfort me."
(Isa 61:1-2 NASB) "The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon
me, Because the LORD has anointed me To bring good news to the afflicted;
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to captives,
And freedom to prisoners; 2 To proclaim the favorable year
of the LORD, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who
mourn,"
(Acts 9:31 NASB) "So the church throughout all Judea and
Galilee and Samaria enjoyed peace, being built up; and, going on in the fear
of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it continued to
increase."
(2 Cor 1:3-4 NASB) "Blessed be the God and Father of our
Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort;
4 who comforts us in all our affliction so that we may be
able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which
we ourselves are comforted by God."
(2 Cor 1:5-6 NASB) "For just as the sufferings of Christ
are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ.
6 But if we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation;
or if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which is effective in the
patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer;"
(2 Cor 2:5-7 NASB) "But if any has caused sorrow, he has
caused sorrow not to me, but in some degree-- in order not to say too much--
to all of you. 6 Sufficient for such a one is this punishment
which was inflicted by the majority, 7 so that on the contrary
you should rather forgive and comfort him, lest somehow such a one be overwhelmed
by excessive sorrow."
(Eph 6:21-22 NASB) "But that you also may know about my
circumstances, how I am doing, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful
minister in the Lord, will make everything known to you.
22 And I have sent him to you for this very purpose, so that
you may know about us, and that he may comfort your hearts."
(Phile 1:7 NASB) "For I have come to have much joy and
comfort in your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed
through you, brother."
(1 Th 4:17-18 NASB) "Then we who are alive and remain
shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the
air, and thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore
comfort one another with these words."
