Both the Old Testament and the New Testament mention the Holy Spirit. Here
is some of what God's word has to say to us about Him.
(Eph 1:13 NASB) In Him, you also, after listening to the
message of truth, the gospel of your salvation-- having also believed, you
were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise.
(Mat 1:18 NASB) Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as
follows. When His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came
together she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit.
(Isa 63:10 NASB) But they rebelled And grieved His Holy
Spirit; Therefore, He turned Himself to become their enemy, He fought against
them.
(Mark 12:36 NASB) David himself said in the Holy Spirit,
'THE LORD SAID TO MY LORD, "SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND, UNTIL I PUT THINE ENEMIES
BENEATH THY FEET.
(Luke 2:25-26 NASB) And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem
whose name was Simeon; and this man was righteous and devout, looking for
the consolation of Israel; and the Holy Spirit was upon him. 26 And it
had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before
he had seen the Lord's Christ.
(John said) (Mat 3:11 NASB) As for me, I baptize you
with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than
I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy
Spirit and fire.
(Mat 12:32 NASB) And whoever shall speak a word against
the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever shall speak against
the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age, or in
the age to come.
(Luke 3:21-22 NASB) Now it came about when all the people
were baptized, that Jesus also was baptized, and while He was praying, heaven
was opened, 22 and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in bodily form like
a dove, and a voice came out of heaven, "Thou art My beloved Son, in Thee
I am well-pleased.
(Luke 11:13 NASB) If you then, being evil, know how to
give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father
give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?
(John 14:26 NASB) But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom
the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring
to your remembrance all that I said to you.
(Mark 13:11 NASB) And when they arrest you and deliver
you up, do not be anxious beforehand about what you are to say, but say whatever
is given you in that hour; for it is not you who speak, but it is the Holy
Spirit.
(John 20:22-23 NASB) And when He had said this, He breathed
on them, and said^ to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 "If you forgive
the sins of any, their sins have been forgiven them; if you retain the sins
of any, they have been retained.
(Acts 2:2-4 NASB) And suddenly there came from heaven
a noise like a violent, rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where
they were sitting. 3 And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing
themselves, and they rested on each one of them. 4 And they were all filled
with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit
was giving them utterance.
(Acts 8:16-17 NASB) For He had not yet fallen upon any
of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17
Then they began laying their hands on them, and they were receiving the Holy
Spirit.
(2 Cor 13:14 NASB) The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ,
and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you
all.
(1 Cor 6:19 NASB) Or do you not know that your body is
a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that
you are not your own?
