2020-08-10 - Go to God
What do you say when someone is hurting? How can the truth that God is sovereign and loving penetrate the loss and suffering? I want to say more than the appropriate response, "I am praying." I want the one in need to actually believe God will show up.
Some days, all we have to cling to is the assurance God will come to our rescue. Isaiah the prophet paints the picture of my superhero. "Fear not, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed. I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will uphold you with my victorious right hand. See, all your angry enemies lie confused and shattered. Anyone opposing you will die. You will look for them in vain–they will all be gone. I am holding you by your right hand–I, the Lord your God–and I say to you, Don’t be afraid; I am here to help you." (Isaiah 41:10-13 TLB)
God tells me not to fear. Why shouldn't I fear, when there is just cause? Because God is with me. He has my back. The Lord will take care of my enemies. He is my help when I need it. I don't have to have all the answers, because God knows all the questions.
Go to God when things are messed up. He has enough strength to handle the hurt and devastation. Make the above verses real in your life or someone's life who needs to know God will really respond. The Lord is more than a flimsy band aid to cover a hurt or pain. He knows your experiences are real and frighting. Guess what? He is by our side. He can handle things when we cannot. What are we waiting for? Let's go to God.
Lord, I know You are working behind the scenes, but my faith is dwindling, since life has been turned upside down and there is only fear, terror, and hopelessness. How will You intervene and when? I lean on You, Lord. Thank You for not letting me down. I pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.Lisa
