[Calvary Chapel] 2020-07-09 - With Prayer and Forgiveness

- - - - - - -

Mark 11:24-26 Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you. 25 Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you your transgressions. 26 But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your transgressions.”

This is interesting. That if we will ask anything and believe that it has been given to us that it will be granted. Taken out of context this could be a problem. If we ask out of God's will for something why would the Father give us anything that could be harmful to us in any way?

The second facet is that we may forgive someone who has done us harm or otherwise troubled us in some way and we hold on to that offense against them then our sins will not be released by the Father until we do forgive the offender their offense against us.

There is so much anger and fighting in the world today that the first person that needs to bve checked is ourselves. If we look back into our memories we might find an offense we never released. If it is recent or old it is still not worth the lose sleep, the stomach acid, or any other pain or distraction we might suffer. If we release them we are freed from carrying whatever weight it was. We gain back time in our days, and the grace to see others in a clearer way. We can become more able servants of the Lord and be available to the things He might have for us to do.

Lord Jesus, please open our eyes and clear our hearts and minds from the things we hold on to, sometimes to the point they have faded into the depths of our memories. Help us to become more useful, willing servants for Your cause to spread Your good news to those we know, or them that need to be given some true hope. Make us more aware of the people you send across our paths to give us to answer a question, or a word to help them see that not all is lost or dark. Thank you for all You do for us. Amen
