[Calvary Chapel] 2020-07-02 - When He is Strong

- - - - - - -

Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord.

Having experienced multiple large layoffs where who is on the list is not always well considered, it can be very disturbing. Events of similar gravity like a friend ending up in a hospital in need of serious medical attention can be worrisome as well. These are things we don't have a lot of control over. We don't. But what about the Lord?

How often do we fail to reach to Him who loves us more than we can understand? It is so easy to become dependent on ourselves with everything from the small daily details to the serious things that make us feel like we've been shoved into a corner unable to stand up again.

Isaiah 55:2 ”Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And delight yourself in abundance.

God starts by directly asking, "Why!?". It is direct and emphatic. He is the Alpha and the Omega - the first and the last. He created the universe as we know it. We are His children. If we will let Him he will help us. He sent His only Son to this Earth so that we could know the love of God the Father, and to show us how to live. Jesus went to John the Baptist to be baptized. John's heart was in the right place when he mentioned to Jesus that Jesus should be baptizing John rather than the other way around. But Jesus gently assured him that was what the Father wanted for now.

It is easy to see that large problem in the way as something want to handle. But there are things where we need to trust His wisdom and what Jesus' has in mind for us.

Grace & Peace,
Mike

Lord Jesus, In these moments we relearn what we already know once we stop trying to do everything on our own and in our own comparatively limited strength and wisdom. Thank you for being patient with us so we learn that it is much better to trust Your wisdom and care for us. Amen
