[Calvary Chapel] 2020-06-25 - Time to Heal

Eccl 3:3 A time to kill and a time to heal; A time to tear down and a time to build up.

We have all heard this verse. Sometimes we hear it spoken, other times from a song from the 19060's nicely done. About a week ago one of my cousins had knee replacement surgery. It took a four days before she could go home after the surgery was completed. Everything went well. The time after, and the time even after she got home and rested a few more days reminds me of "a time to heal". She's an Illinois farm girl and she gets the job done. We were talking tonight and, things are getting done somewhat slower until the seven inch scar on her leg heals. That may take a few weeks. Before she is fully recovered and has worked back to the point everything is normal again will take much longer than that. But don't tell her that!

Today the world has the same problems. Scars that need healing. Some are deep scars. Some of those are centuries old, or even millennia old. The wounds are not always forgotten or forgiven. The problems are passed down from generation to generation so that the healing never seems to take root.

Jesus went to the cross to open the door for us to know the lone of God the Father that had been lost over layers of tradition and rules that had hidden the grace and forgiveness that was there. Jesus came that we would know the love of the Father, and so that we could be forgiven and a way be made for us to go to Heaven to be with Him and the Father when this mortal life ends.

The recent raids, riots, gang fights, differences that keep two nations from talking and agreeing enough to put down their weapons continue to pole and dig at the wounds and scars that prevent healing to progress, or at least slow it down. We are given new life when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. He takes the old tattered life away and gives us His forgiveness, kindness and love to share. The old life that struggles with the lack of healing is changed so that the process of healing and sharing that change becomes part of our lives that others might see and wonder about. Give them something that builds questions within them.

Rom 6:3-5 3 Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have become [a]united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be [b]in the likeness of His resurrection,

Grace & Peace,

Lord Jesus. Please fill our hearts and minds with good news for the people we have placed across our paths. That our words would be from a heart and mind at peace and with answers that fill their minds with something they want to understand and consider. Amen
