[CF Devotionals] 2020-06-15 - A Helper

- - - - - - -

God created Eve to be a suitable helper for husband Adam. She didn’t handle her role very well, as she disobeyed God, ate the forbidden fruit to become wise, and gave some to Adam. (Genesis 2:16 and 3:6)

Thankfully we have a constant helper designed perfectly for the role in our life. The Bible describes God as our helper in many Scriptures. (See below.)

So we say with confidence, ”The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?“ (Hebrews 14:6 NIV)

Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is with those who uphold my life. (Psalm 54:4 NKJV)

The Lord is with me; he is my helper. I look in triumph on my enemies. (Psalm 118:7 NIV)

He is your shield and helper and your glorious sword. (Deuteronomy 33:29 NIV)

He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young. (Isaiah 40:11 NIV)

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10 NIV)

Being a helper isn‘t second best.
