The Promise

Eternal Life and No Condemnation

16 ”For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.

Over and over we have all heard or seen John 3:16 Telling anyone who will read or listen with an open mind how much God the Father loves us enough to give His only Son. Foretold roughly four centuries before his birth Jesus was given through Mary. Verse 16 tells us that we would not die from this life without hope. But if anyone in this world will accept Jesus&srquo; offer. His offer includes a few things.

First, giving up sin. That is often received as an ugly word. It means simply that you have not been able to follow God’ ways perfectly. If you thing that is not fair consider that God the Father sent His only son, Jesus, to die for our imperfect ways. There is no other way. But this is how the gate to eternal life takes step one. Simple, we are not perfect. Easy enough to admit.

Second. Accept that Jesus did something for you. He died on a cross to pay for your sins. How did that happen? Every year at Passover a lamb was sacrificed to pay for the sins of a Jewish family. When Jesus came and experience all of the temptations we do. He knows our strengths and weaknesses. And He was crucified in our places to pay for our failings, our inability to live to the Father's perfect standard. My His own blood Jesus paid to free us from our sins.

Third. Give Jesus your life. A little simpler? Follow His path. How? God's Word, the Bible. Look for a version that is more readable for you. Find a friend who will help you when you have questions. The friend who brought you to church will very likely be happy to help you. If you ask them if you an go and see what their church is all about they will probably be very happy to take you along. If you can't find a friend there are people who can help you. There are phone lines and websites that can help you. If you write to the person who wrote from our CF Devotionals group, they will either try to answer, or find another one of our group to help.

Finally. Take these steps soon! Nobody is promised tomorrow. Look up that friend who has asked you if you would come with him as see how interesting his church and friends there are, go with him and find out what it's all about!

God loves you more than you can know.

Blessings!

Selah!

Lord Jesus - Thank You for Your love and the gift of music. It is easy to believe that you care for us and have our best interests at heart. And still it is hard to allow you to do the things you promise You will do! There are times we must be broken down to give up control and see your provision right in front of us. Thank You for Your patience. Amen.

How Great Thou Art

O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

Chorus:
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee
, How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

When through the woods, and forest glades I wander,
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees.
When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur
And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee
, How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing;
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on a Cross, my burdens gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration,
And then proclaim: "My God, how great Thou art!

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!
