[PC-USA] 2020-06-02 - Passages for This Time

- - - - - - -

When I prayed for God to guide me in a devotional for this week, I felt led to share these Bible passages and thoughts.

1 Timothy 2:1-6
1 First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. 3 This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth (NASB)

5-6 (NIV) The Father is with me. I’ve told you all this so that trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I’ve conquered the world.“

John 16:33 (TLB) 33 I have told you all this so that you will have peace of heart and mind. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows; but cheer up, for I have overcome the world.“

As the Message © interprets John 16: 33, The Father is with me. I’ve told you all this so that trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I’ve conquered the world.“

No matter the violence that is going on in the world around us, as we pray for an end to it, and pray for the hearts of those committing the violence - as well as the safety of those endangered - may we also ask God to help US to have that UNSHAKABLE faith about which Christ taught us - faith in God, His love, wisdom, justice and timing.
