[CF Devotionals] 2020-04-25 - Slow Learners

- - - - - - -

Mark 8:21 (NIV) He said to them, ”Do you still not understand?“

Have you ever tried to teach someone a lesson, a skill, or a craft and your student didn&rsqu;t seem to grasp your instructions? Did they question your teaching? Did you or your students become frustrated?

Jesus picked twelve students to become His disciples. These students would carry on after Jesus departed their presence. Would they be able to convey the message?

Jesus used various methods to teach His disciples. He frequently taught with parables, but also instructed by example. Twice in the Gospel of Mark, Jesus fed large groups of people with meager supplies of food. Both times, the disciples first expressed doubts over how these multitudes could be fed. They appeared to be slow learners. Would they never understand?

Jesus asked, ”Do you still not understand?“ How about us today? Are we slow to learn? Do we have to be taught the same lessons over and over? If so, do not give up. Jesus is still teaching us. What lesson do you think He is teaching you today?
