2020-01-25 - The Hall of Fame
Hebrews 11:1 (NIV) Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
The selection of new entrants into the baseball Hall of Fame occurs soon. Commentators, former players, and Hall of Fame members debate who should be selected to enter the Hall of Fame this year. The strengths and weaknesses of the candidates will be discussed. Their accomplishments and awards will be noted. Are they worthy to enter into the honor roll of players and managers?
A Hall of Fame of faith can be found in Hebrews 11 in the Bible. A list of the faithful can be found there. Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Moses are among those described as heroes of the faith. Even though they performed many deeds and accomplished important things, they are noted most for their faith in God.
Today, we don’t have to be perfect or perform certain deeds to enter into God’s Hall. We just need to put our faith in Jesus Christ and depend on HIS righteousness. The apostle Paul explained to the frightened jailer in Acts 16:31 (NIV) how to be saved, saying, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved…”
Our faith in Jesus is what gets us into God’s Hall of Fame, which we call Heaven. Our faith, expressed in our daily lives also shows our commitment to Jesus. Have you put your faith in Him and shown your commitment?
