[Calvary Chapel] 2019-10-26 - Carrying Burdens

Galatians 6:2 (NIV) Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

During a recent football game, a player missed a blocking assignment. The opposing player easily rushed past the errant blocker and threatened to tackle the quarterback and cause a major loss. Another player, seeing what was happening, stepped in and blocked the opponent out of the way. The play continued and was successful. If the second player hadn’t acted to back up his teammate, the result would have been a failure.

How often do you see someone struggling and perhaps failing in their tasks? Do you see someone having trouble in their faith walk? Are you there to step in and help?

The Bible has many examples of friends helping out others. When Job suffered great losses, three friends came to comfort him and offer advice. After the resurrection, Jesus sought out Peter, to bolster his spirit after Peter had denied Jesus three times.

Each day, we find opportunities to help others each day. A kind word or deed can make a big difference. Sometimes just listening will help ease someone’s situation. Let’s look for ways to help today.
