[CF Devotionals] 2019-10-21 - Temporarily Lost

Luke 19:1-15

I am notorious about losing my glasses. I try to put them in the same place, on top of the mantel or a not-so-safe place, such as the crease of a sofa cushion. I always ask God to intervene and show me where to search for my missing pairs of glasses. Sometimes I hear His voice instinctively, and other times I don't. Right now, I cannot find my prescription sunglasses. This is fine on a rainy day, but not very practical. I feel terrible about it. I don't want to pay for another pair due to my carelessness. I am not giving up, but I am running out of places to look!

I am like the woman who lost her coin. The New Testament parable tells the literal story of what happens when a woman looses her coin. She searches carefully until she finds the lost item, and then rejoices with her friends over finding it. Spiritually speaking, the parable takes on a different meaning.

When one of God's children makes a commitment to live for God, God and heavenly angels rejoice. It is a happy, joyous time when someone decides to follow after Him. We are imperfect people in an imperfect world, and yet the Lord continues to love us. “The Lord will bring justice and show mercy to all who serve him.” (Psalm 135:15 CEV)

Lord, Thank You for Your compassion and wanting all to be with You. In the name of Jesus' I pray, Amen.
