[Calvary Chapel] 2019-10-19 - Good Works

"For we are God's workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."--Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)

This passage from Ephesians tells us what God wants us to do with the gift of life that He has given us through our Savior, Jesus Christ. We are first told that we are God's workmanship. God has created us in His image, and He wants us to do His work here on Earth.

Then we are told that God has prepared these opportunities for good works in advance. Think of the numerous situations we are presented with each day, that offer us the chance to perform work for others.

God always wants us to help others with our time and talents. This may mean mowing a neighbor's lawn or preparing them a meal. It may happen when we are listening to their troubles or taking them to a doctor's appointment. In many situations, we can perform service for others. If we are physically unable to do these things, we can always pray, which is the most important thing.

As the Scripture says, these works are prepared in advance for us to do. Pray about it, look and then see what good works God wants you to do today or tomorrow.
