2019-09-30 - Life Assignments
Jeremiah thought his job would be impossible. He was open to a life assignment from God, until Jeremiah learned what God wanted him to do. Instead of presenting himself confidently, able for the task, Jeremiah gave excuses why he wasn't the right one for the job God predestined. The prophet did not feel qualified. Jeremiah thought he was too young, and gave God that excuse. God wasn't buying it.
“Alas, Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am too young." But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord. Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, “I have put my words in your mouth." (Jeremiah 1:6-9 NIV)
The Lord's words worked, as Jeremiah prophesied for many years. God's grace was enough. Jeremiah the prophet stepped out in faith, and relied more on the Lord than his feelings.
Lord, With You behind the wheel, it will work out, but I don't see how. It seems I am facing insurmountable mountains ahead. Let my thinking not be poisoned, and may I not gravitate toward toxic thoughts. In the name of Jesus' I pray, Amen.
