2019-08-19 - The Quiet Ones
"You're one of the quiet ones," an elderly woman told me, as we left a Bible study. "I guess," I mumbled, trying not to resent her comment. At least, she didn't call me shy.
I don't think this woman meant to hurt my feelings, but she did a little. In this instance, I needed to believe the Bible more than my feelings. Proverbs 19:11 proclaims "Good sense and discretion make a man slow to anger, And it is his honor and glory to overlook a transgression or an offense [without seeking revenge and harboring resentment]." (AMP)
Truth is, I don't see myself as quiet. I prefer more positive adjectives like pensive and observant.
However you describe yourself, it is comforting to know the Lord uses the brave, the timid, the loud, and the quiet. He just asks us to be willing to walk where He leads.
Lord, Let my thinking not be poisoned, and may I not gravitate toward toxic thoughts. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
