2019-06-26 - Taste and See
“The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. O fear the Lord, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him. (Psalm 34:7-9)
Yesterday, there were nearly a dozen cherry tomatoes out in the garden, ready to pick and bring inside. Some of them will soon find themselves on a small garden salad, and in my zeal of thinking about it, I popped one in my mouth. I was reminded why there is nothing better to me than a home-grown tomato. It brought back memories of home-grown veggies as a kid and a young adult. Once trying them growing up. It was easy for me to know it would be a good idea on my own, too.
When I was in High School, my friend, Trinh, shared her love of a Savior with me in her own quirky and sweet way, and showed me what it meant, spiritually speaking, to: “taste and see that the Lord is good.” Once I met him, I was blessed in ways I never imagined. He has built each of us in specific ways, to experience His goodness and share it with others. And literal reminders of how good something is just reinforces how when we trust Him, we will be truly blessed - a priceless gift given at great cost. God did not have to invite us in, but He chose to do so. I am grateful he let me see His goodness.
“And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.” (Genesis 1:31)
