2019-05-13 - The Wrong Mom
"To Mommy, I Love You so much. I don't know what I would do without you."
The above note fell out of a book in my daughter's room. I was so touched, and then I got to the end of the note. "Love, Leah."
My daughter's name isn't Leah. The note wasn't written for me. Leah must have previously taken the library book out.
I was disappointed, as my daughter has never expressed such thanks and adoration to me. The note made me wonder how my daughter feels about me, and does she realize what and how much I do behind the scenes?
Jesus didn't always receive gratitude or accolades, but that did not stop Him from showering His children with love. Jesus healed the sick, encouraged, comforted, and taught the lost.
When His cousin, John the Baptist was killed, "he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. Hearing of this, the crowds followed on foot from the towns. When Jesus landed and saw a big crowd, he had compassion on them and healed the sick." (Matthew 14:13-14 NIV) Jesus put others' needs ahead of His own. How often do we get tired of sacrificing? Long for endurance and patience instead of weariness? May the Lord give us the right attitude during these times. May our servant's heart find a balance between giving and resting.
