[CF Devotionals] 2019-05-08 - Double Rainbow

- - - - - - -

Over the weekend, I began working on some stretches and strengthening exercises to help my neck and relieve discomfort there, as well as to help my shoulders. I have made mention of trouble in these two areas for a couple of different reasons over the past few years, but at some appointments, it just occurred to me that some of my own exercises - along with the ones I found online - might just do the trick at bringing relief and rebuilding strength, while also getting more much needed rest. I figure I have nothing to lose but some time of quiet reflection and meditation, and even possibly gaining some insight I can use in part of a new daily routine. It is good to look to those deemed qualified to serve professionally to assist in healing, yet it is also good to meditate, pray, and look inwardly, knowing ourselves as well as what we have learned over time, and through experience, too. This goes back to a thought I have brought up before-trust your instincts, which is something I learned from my Mom and my childhood pediatrician, Dr. Wolfson, from Pennsylvania.

A couple days ago, as I wondered if I were on the right track with the exercises, I walked outside with our four-legged fur baby. There was a double rainbow on the eastern horizon above Read Mountain. It came following a hard spring rain shower, yet I immediately thought of God’s word and the promise made following the great flood with Noah, and the cleansing of the earth - and then again, through Jesus’ sacrifice, with the blood covenant representing forgiveness of sins allowing for repentance thereafter. What a wonderful gift! What a beautiful sight that double rainbow was to me, in that moment! It represented something personal - a sign of a new beginning and healing on a few levels. There has already been a noticeable difference of relief, physically and spiritually, in just a few days. When a door closes, indeed a window can certainly open. Do you feel God’s covenant as part of your daily life? Do you feel a difference added with his forgiveness? He is so worthy. 😊

“And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”

So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth.”

“This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” (Matthew 26:28 NIV)

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” (Hebrews 12:1-3 NIV)
