2019-02-16 - Facing Disappointment
Philippians 1:27 Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.
Many things happen, in our daily lives, which can make us lose our composure or temper. Another driver may cut us off in traffic. Someone may share a confidence with others. A friend may seem to forget us when we need them, or a medical diagnosis may not be what we want to hear. How do we react when these things happen to us? Do we react with anger, disappointment or frustration? How do we handle our disappointment?
In Philippians, Paul tells us that we are to always conduct ourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. When faced with these situations, we may ask, "How would Christ react in a similar situation?" What would Jesus do or say? We can read the Gospels to see how Jesus handled difficult situations. He faced betrayal, false accusations and disappointments. Jesus can serve as our model in dealing with others in hard times. Are we living up to the gospel of Christ?
