2019-01-19 - Fear
Hebrews 13:6 So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”
Thomas Edison was a brilliant man, who was responsible for many groundbreaking inventions of which we still use variations, including the phonograph and motion picture camera. Perhaps his most famous and important invention was the light bulb. Edison worked for a long time to find the right material for his light bulb. He also was responsible for making some of the first silent motion pictures in America. Edison was a brilliant and accomplished man, yet this intrepid scientific genius was actually afraid of the dark!
Like Edison, we all have fears. We may fear the dark, snakes, heights, or failures. What are you afraid of?
The Bible tells us, many times, that we are not to fear. The 23rd Psalm talks of walking through the dark times and not being afraid. Hebrews 13:6 comforts us, by informing us that we have a helper when we are afraid. Our helper is The Lord. He is our comforter and advisor. Are you trusting in The Lord, in fearful times?
