2019-01-23 - Brace Yourself
Late this morning, my dear hubby went out to purchase a brace for his left shoulder. Since he was a kid, he noticed that he was double-jointed in that arm. It was an advantage for sports and other activities, yet at some point, it turned on him. Now the muscles going from the collarbone side, around to back of his shoulder, are stretched considerably. At times, it allows his arm to not rest properly in the socket, which is rather painful for him. Sleep has become precarious, at best, and his doctor told him he needs to fix it. In the meantime, this brace he got, today, is holding his arm in place, in preparation for surgery.
What are you preparing for, right now? We need to discipline ourselves for what is ahead. We need to be good stewards of our time, talents, thoughts, behaviors and the temple we’ve been given as a vehicle for the father’s work. As we do, as he asks while we are preparing, he can work through us for his glory. Even in the little things. And it may be a painful at times, but brace yourself, and hold on, because the reward is coming.
“It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves, but you, in these things which now have been announced to you through those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven—things into which angels long to look. Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance,” (1 Peter 1:12-14 NASB)
