Part 2

Exekiel 37:1-14

Ezekiel 17:11 [The Vision Explained] Then He said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel; behold, they say, ‘Our bones are dried up and our hope has perished. We are completely cut off.’

This is a follow up to last week where the vision God gave to Ezekiel was written down. This one phrase is speaks to the players in this vision and the situation of the people of Israel. God points out to Ezekiel that the dry bones are the "whole house of Israel"; not only a portion of Israel. And the people report back that their bones, their hope, is all dried up.

How many of us have been in a difficult situation. Sometimes it takes time and effort to overcome. Prayer should always come first, but why don't we always do that? We try on our own, and sometimes succeed. Relief might be short lived. Other times the trial is difficult and beyond our strength and our wisdom. Israel's hope had dried up. The bones represent their hope. If you have ever been in what seemed to be a hopeless situation where your hope flickered? Consider … Where our Lord is near there is always hope. We are His children for who He cares greatly.

Matt 6:33 But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

If Israel had taken their trials to God they could have been spared their troubles and afflictions. This also can apply to us. Today I see the sparks of individual believers and churches that are coming to life again. Many of His people are being less timid in the public square, defending their faith. Is there a revival around the corner? Only the LORD knows. Will the church as a whole respond? Will the members reach out with the good news that God loves us all and wants to reach out to every single person? Who will lead them all home? Will we take part in reflecting the love of God to the world around us? Or do we stumble the way Israel did?

Lord Jesus. We see the potential beginnings of a move of Your hand raising up Your church and reaching out to the world with Your love. Letting people know that You are not against them, but for them. You offer forgiveness to anyone who will come with a gentle, contrite heart. Give us the wisdom to seek you first and the hope to share with others. Amen.
