[CF Devotionals] 2018-12-31 - Don't Forget

- - - - - - -

It's easy to rely on God, when we're not in crisis mode. When difficulties happen, my immediate reaction can be anger, misery, or fear. Regardless of my emotional state, I always ask God for help. The Lord should be the first place to run. Not to point blame, but to ask for His counsel, direction, and intervention.

Psalm 34 is full of reminders. It's as if David wrote these delightful facts, so he would remember to trust God. The psalm is full of reminders of how awesome God is. Sometimes that is hard to see, when life isn't easy.

David reminds himself and us that:

  • God is his help, the One who sustains him. (verse 4)
  • God hears our prayers and saves us from all our troubles. (verses 6, 19)
  • We are blessed, when we take refuge in Him. (verse 8)
  • "No one who honors the Lord will ever be in need." (verse 9 CEV)
  • God "is close to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit." (verse 18 NIV)

Lord, Thank You for saving me from all my troubles. Help me to walk this truth out in faith, while waiting to see the solution. Please send the remedy quickly. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
