2018-12-15 - Making It Through the Day
Philippians 4:13 (ESV) I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
Do you ever have one of those days when you simply want to make it through the day and have it behind you? Sometimes we are faced with what seems like an impossible workload, agenda, situation, or decision. How are we going to make it through the day?
When I was bedridden with a serious illness, I often wondered what each day would bring. My wife, Jan, faced an even tougher task. She had to take care of me by herself. She was my sole caregiver. I worried more about her than about myself. How would she make it through the day?
She was able to find the strength, each day, to care for me. Where did she find that extra energy? Paul tells us that this strength comes from reliance on Jesus. We also discussed things together. Fortunately the illness did not affect my mental capacity so we were able to discuss things, watch shows on television together at night. She also was able to talk with a couple friends about the situation.
Are you relying on Jesus, family and friends to help you make it through the day?
