2018-11-19 - A New Mindset
So if you're serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don't shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ-that's where the action is. See things from his perspective." (Colossians 3:1-2 MSG)
Strong, commanding words rung out, when I read the above Colossians verses. They are a direct order from Paul, not a request. Are you living this resurrection life, or just getting by, day after day?
There are times I would answer yes to that question. I could honestly say I am absorbed with Christ, talking to Him in the car, reading the Bible, praying for others, church volunteering, and completing my homework for Bible studies.
I am also one who gets caught up in the details and demands of the day. And so I find myself not always enjoying the resurrection life the Lord intended. Too many of my days are drudgery. Certainly, God didn't have this in mind! Or is He using it for a Godly purpose I don't yet know, see, or understand?
It reminds me of a 1980s tune sung by Steven Curtis Chapman, called More to this Life*. The chorus states:
But there's more to this life than living and dying,
We are to have hope. One way is to take charge and change our perspective as Paul stated in verse two. A new mindset reminds us that God must have a better way. He sees situations from all angles, not just my narrow one. By faith, we are to accept the outcome, even if the decision wasn't our way or what we envisioned. May there be comfort in seeking the Lord's will.

Lord, There's gotta be more! I want to live a resurrection life. I don't want to go through the motions. Show me how to carve out time for You. When I am faced with a decision, may my first reaction be to pray, seeking Your perspective only. May l not negotiate, but be led by You. In the name of Jesus' I pray, Amen.
