2018-11-17 - Making the Most of Today
James 4:14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
I was recently reading a book in which the central character suddenly died, halfway through the story. His family was left to deal with the aftermath of his death. Eventually, they sold the family house and moved away. Plans for the future were drastically revised. Their lives would never be the same. As most of you know, in 2016, Jan and I had an overnight change in our own lives, when I was suddenly stricken with Guillain-Barre Syndrome, with no warning at all. That turned our own lives upside down for almost a year. We are thankful for my recovery, but it was a life-altering experience.
James tells us that we don't know when our time on earth will end. We need to make the most of every day. We should live each day, as if it were our last. We should cherish our loved ones, and tell them that we love them. We shouldn't put off doing things that are important.
Are you making the most of each day? Is there someone you need to talk to, today?
