2018-11-05 - What Time is It? Time to Wait
In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly. (Psalm 5:3 NIV)
Waiting is part of life like cleaning clothes and brushing our teeth; it is something that goes with the territory as human beings. We have no choice but to accept this fact.
While there are many conveniences for reducing wait time, we still have to wait. Being a believer isn't easy for the impatient, as oftentimes God's timetable is slower than ours.
The Bible's answer is telling us to wait patiently. Sigh. "Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him;" (Psalm 37:7 NIV) Romans 8:25 logically explains the need for patience. "But if we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently." (NLT)
I wish these Scriptures went a step further, and said how to be patient. Patience does not come naturally to some, including me. During our trials and holding tightly to faith and hope, we have the assurance that God will come through for us. We just don't know when or how.
