2018-11-10 - Second Chances
When we were having problems with a certain phone model, Jan’s battery percentage went from 100% to 30% over night, and when I woke up in the morning, my phone battery had gone from 100% to 14% overnight. They definitely needed to be recharged. That is true for us as Christians, as well.
Mark 6:30-31 (NIV)--The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest."
John 11:43-44 (NIV)--When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!" The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face. Jesus said to them, "Take off the grave clothes and let him go."
Lazarus was dead. He had been wrapped in linen and placed in a tomb. The mourners had gathered at his house, to remember him. Then Jesus came and performed a miracle. Lazarus was raised from the dead. Lazarus was alive again. How would he use his second chance at life?
Jesus came and died for our sins. He gives us a second chance at life, too. Jesus raised Lazarus for a purpose, as he saved us from our sins for a purpose. How will we spend our lives, after we accept Jesus' sacrifice for us? Will we make the most of each day? Will we use it to serve others? Or will we waste it?
