[CF Devotionals] 2018-10-20 - Waiting on God

Psalm 27:14 (NIV)--Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.

Much of our busy lives are spent waiting. Recently, our small city pharmacy merged with a major pharmacy chain. Instead of personal service, we have encountered long waits in line to receive our prescriptions. Frequently, customers are told to form a single line down a certain aisle, to wait to be served. Sometimes, after waiting in that line, we are sent to yet another line, to wait to have our questions answered, or to have our problems resolved.

The writer of Psalm 27 was familiar with waiting. David faced opposition from many sides. Yet David trusted the Lord., and waited on the Lord. Sometimes David felt that God had turned His back on him. David was honest about his feelings. He said, "How long , O LORD? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? (Psalm 13:1, NIV) Yet, David waited and the Lord answered. God kept His promises.

What are you waiting for? It may be a needed job, a medical diagnosis, a relationship healing or something else.

Just like David, we are to trust in the Lord and wait patiently for His timing and His answers.
