PC-USA 2018-09-25 - Higher Ways

- - - - - - -

Richard and I are both word nerds who enjoy playing the game “Words with Friends.” © (At least, we did until the most recent changes!) Recently, after Richard made three words at once, I only saw two of them. I totally missed the third one; my focus and vision were limited. This game has been a good reminder that our limited mental perspective sometimes gives us limited vision.

We Christians sometimes have limited spiritual vision, as well. For example, we may see a current situation as a stressor, a difficult challenge, something to be endured. But God can see it from all sides and times. He sees the preface and the afterword. He can see how He will use it to glorify Himself, and to bless us and others.

Isaiah 55:8-9 (MSG)
“I don’t think the way you think.
The way you work isn’t the way I work.”
   God’s Decree.
“For as the sky soars high above earth,
so the way I work surpasses the way you work

Isaiah 55:8-9 (NASB)
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways
And My thoughts than your thoughts.”

Every time we encounter something that we think of as an obstacle, we need to ask God to help us see it as He does, and to respond as He would want us to do.
