[CF Devotionals] 2018-05-05 - The Golden Rule

- - - - - - -

Matthew 7:12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums us the Law and the Prophets.

Recently, due to the serious illness and then death of my father-in-law (Jan's Dad), we have been doing a lot of driving on the major interstates. At each interstate on-ramp, there is a short area for traffic to merge onto the interstate. Drivers have to get up to speed quickly, and merge into traffic that is traveling at 70 miles per hour. Frequently, drivers already on the interstate will move over into the left lane, to allow merging drivers to have room to safely pull into traffic. Sometimes you will see a driver already on the interstate fail to show courtesy, and refuse to move over. The merging drivers is forced to brake and wait for an opening. I often think--What if that were you? Would you want someone to move over for you?

In Matthew 7:12, Jesus was teaching his disciples and followers about how to treat each other. Think about how you would you like to be treated. Treat others in just that way. Jesus gave us a simple rule for how to interact with each other. Are you following the Golden Rule?
