2018-04-23 - God, Are You There?
Then Jesus told them this parable: “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent." (Luke 15:3-7 NIV)
Sometimes we cry out to our loving parent and say, "God, God," and get no answer. We feel disappointed, and wonder why He is ignoring us. Have we any unconfessed sin that needs repenting? Is our prayer a time of trust and patience, or that God knows best and sometimes an initial, inaudible answer is God's way of responding?
It's hard for my humanness to fathom that God leaves the 99 for me. I know He is a loving God, but it is hard, when I'm like that sheep, lost and afraid. I want to see and feel that love.
People say difficult times make you stronger. Hard times only make me wonder-how God is going to show up the next time there's trouble. There's no doubt I'll ask for His help, and that He will be there. God is trustworthy, even when we can't feel it or see it.
Lord, Help me not doubt how awesome Your love is.
