[PC-USA] 2018-04-10 - Bible Passages about Work

Compiled by Janice P. Moser

- - - - - - -

As our longtime readers are aware, sometimes we feel led to simply present Bible passages with no commentary from us. I would like to add one thing; this is about ALL work, including unpaid, volunteer work. To God, work is work and is not about money. ; )

Colossians 3:23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, (NIV)

Proverbs 18:9 He also who is slack in his work Is brother to him who destroys. (NASB)

2 Thessalonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat." (NIV) (Of course, this is exempting those who are unable to work due to physical or mental illness.)

Deuteronomy 15:10 Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the LORD your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to. (NIV)

1 Thessalonians 4:10-12 And in fact, you do love all of God’s family throughout Macedonia. Yet we urge you, brothers and sisters, to do so more and more, and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody. (NIV)
