2018-04-07 - What Next?
Matthew 28:16-17 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted.
Jesus had carefully selected his twelve disciples. He spent three years teaching and training them. Jesus knew that these men needed to be prepared for the time when he would no longer be with them. He was arrested, tried, and crucified in their presence. Now, word had reached the remaining eleven that Jesus had risen from the dead. They were instructed to go to a mountain in Galilee, to meet him. What would happen next?
Matthew tells us that Jesus appeared to the disciples on the mountain in Galilee. They worshipped him, but some still had their doubts. What was going to happen now? What were they to do? Jesus then gave them their marching instructions, "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." (Matthew 28:19-20). Jesus told his disciples to spread the Good News of his resurrection. He left no doubt as to what they were to do next.
Today, we have the same mandate from Jesus. We are to spread the Good News of Easter to others, and to preach and teach about Jesus' love for us. What is next for you?
