2018-03-26 - Palm Sunday
The next day a large crowd was in Jerusalem for Passover. When they heard that Jesus was coming for the festival, they took palm branches and went out to greet him. They shouted,
I like celebrating Palm Sunday, a week before Easter. It signifies Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem. It was a day when Jesus was honored while on Earth. A time before He was unjustly accused, bruised, and crucified. The people celebrated Jesus with their cloaks and branches, a recognition held for kings. In that moment, the people recognized His royalty and Kingship. It would not last.
Colossians 2 paints a picture of that awesomeness of Jesus. "For in Christ there is all of God in a human body; so you have everything when you have Christ, and you are filled with God through your union with Christ. He is the highest Ruler, with authority over every other power." (verses 9-10 TLB)
This Bible book draws our attention to Jesus' acts of love, unselfishness, and humility when He came to Earth to save us. "You were dead, because you were sinful and were not God’s people. But God let Christ make you alive, when he forgave all our sins. God wiped out the charges that were against us for disobeying the Law of Moses. He took them away and nailed them to the cross. There Christ defeated all powers and forces. He let the whole world see them being led away as prisoners when he celebrated his victory." (verses 13-15 CEV)
Lord, I pray that we always honor, praise, and acknowledge Jesus - and not just during important holidays. Show us how to do this, especially when things are painful or in times of waiting on You. Even in difficult times, God, may we consistently follow You.
