[CF Devotionals] 2017-10-04 - Hidden

Have you ever heard and bird singing, and not seen it? One of the reasons I began to study and learn the songs of different birds is so in the event they remain hidden in the trees, I can still know which ones are talking, so to speak. When they sing in the trees, sometimes they make sounds while moving around either to get to some fruit from the tree or a feeder. They can also use a tree as a refuge from the weather, a place to nest, or rest or take cover from a predator of some sort, as well. Occasionally, I hear two of the same kinds of bird talking to each other from neighboring trees, and it’s like a distant echo. They may go on conversing for several minutes, and they often seem quite delighted just living and enjoying the sanctuary. They don’t worry as people often do, and what a blessing learning from them, watching how they get all they need in that simple hidden refuge of a tree.

As children of the mighty Father, we, too, can find refuge hidden in the arms of his unconditional love. And when we truly strive to walk out our belief in his sovereignty, we won’t have any need left unattended and will be able to rejoice in the simplicity of his promises. He is always with us and “….if God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31 NIV)

“I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Praise be to you, O Lord; teach me your decrees. With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth. I rejoice in following your statutes as one who rejoices in great riches. I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.” (Psalm 119:10-16 NIV)
