[CF Devotionals] 2016-12-25 - Merry Christmas

- - - - - - -

God loved us enough to send Jesus in our place. “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him." (1 John 4:9 NIV) Most people want the assurance that they are loved, that someone is on their side. Sometimes we don’t feel God could love us, by our behavior or thoughts. We get so busy looking at our failures, that we fail to remember that God doesn’t see us as a failure. May we not be obsessed with our shortcomings, but rather focus on the One who loves us unconditionally, especially as we celebrate the Lord's human birth.

We are never far from Your sight. How awesome to think that we matter to the Lord! Our steps are ordered by God. (see Psalm 37:23) “But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.” (Psalm 33:11 NIV) We are the Lord's treasure. A present, something to savor and to be proud of.

Lord, I am so privileged to have access to You. I pray for those who don’t have that luxury. May I not take my freedoms for granted. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
