"Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you." (1 Peter 5:7 NIV)
We have a choice. We can worry during the scary and unknown times, or we can realize worrying doesn’t help. The more we tell ourselves not to worry, the more we focus on the worry. What can we do? Ask the Lord of peace to quiet the anxiety. We can trust in His Word that says not to be anxious for anything. (Philippians 4:6) We are to rest in the fact that God is in control. He won’t abandon us.
God is our place of safety and protection. God will cover us with His outstretched arms, and under them we’re completely safe. The Lord has put His angels to guard us, wherever we go. (See Psalm 91)
We weren’t created to worry, but to have peace, knowing God can handle difficulties. We do not have to be fearful. We can be strong and not fear. (Isaiah 35:3-4)
Lord, Don’t let me be anxious. Instead, may I learn how to stop those thoughts and feelings before they take root. Break the influence anxiety has on my life. I can live without worry and anxiety. I am tired of them being a permanent fixture in my life. It’s not in Your plan for me to be anxious. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
