2016-07-02 - The Unthinkable
Then one of the twelve apostles, Judas Iscariot, went to talk to the leading priests. He said, “What will you pay me for giving Jesus to you?” And they gave him thirty silver coins. (Matthew 26:14-15 NCV)
Jesus’ disciple Judas Iscariot was fond of money. This fondness turned into a lust for greed. Once greed took residence in his heart, Judas opened himself up to Satan. When the chief priests were looking for a way to get rid of Jesus, Judas was willing to help, for a price.
Judas received thirty silver pieces for turning Jesus into the leaders. Immediately after Jesus was arrested, Judas felt guilty about selling out Jesus, and returned the money. The sacrifice didn’t stop the grief that raged in him, so Judas did the unthinkable, the one thing he thought would resolve everything - but it didn’t - and he took his own life.
Lord, May my flesh not open the door to Satan’s attacks. I pray You will be working on things for my good, and that the enemy will have no control on things that pertain to me. May there be no obstacle in Your way, when it comes to Your will for my life. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
