2015-11-16 - What Would a Parent Say?
Parents, don’t be hard on your children. Raise them properly. Teach them and instruct them about the Lord. (Ephesians 6:4)
Parents, don’t come down too hard on your children or you’ll crush their spirits. (Colossians 3:21 MSG)
The Bible warns us not to exasperate our children. Is that even possible? It is a difficult request, no matter how loving and forgiving an individual. Personally, I need to keep my emotions in check when my children show their displeasure or choose unkind words. They aren't always meant to harm.
Sacrifice is required, when you are a mother or father. When we are obedient to this fact, we show respect to the Lord, and obedience becomes easier and not something to dread.
The responsibility of being a parent can get a little lighter, when one looks to God for his strength. We can rely on His Heavenly authority. My shoulders feel less of the burden, when I offer myself to the Lord, I can tell you that.
God, Instead of avoiding You or trying to handle things on my own, may I share my
thoughts, feelings, and worries with You. In Jesus' name, Amen
