[CF Devotionals] 2015-09-23 - Renew

Ever wonder why your path crosses with another person’s? Even in your most cognizant moments, do you ponder your life’s path and God’s plan, when certain moments seem meaningless as they occur? Sometimes he connects the dots right away, and other times, it happens several years later. I learned more about the "why" maybe five or six years after meeting a dear sweet lady, while working with her at some respite event nights and weekends in the special needs ministry of a church we both then attended. The other night, I was sitting with my husband - talking with him and our daughter on the phone - and I got a text from her, out of the blue. So it’s true, sometimes you ask God what he wants you to do, and he texts you!!!

She needed prayer, reassurance, someone to care - and I was blessed enough to be someone she thought of, at a time in her life that is a deep struggle. Details of her situation are private, but one thing’s for sure: I am honored that God uses me to be an instrument of peace in her heart. She may not feel it yet; however, I am confident in Him, and so I have no doubt it will happen at some point soon. I hope to get together with her at an appointed time, and am blessed to know her, but even more so, I am honored to bring her closer to our Father, in any way possible. He also continues to show me, with each passing day, that he is still walking me down the path he designed for my life in unexpected ways. I am grateful. He renews my strength sometimes for my own needs and other times to do so for others he has put in my path. God is always good.

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:31 NIV)

“Hide(turn) your face from my sins
and blot out all my iniquity. Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence,
or take your Holy Spirit from me.” (Psalm 51:9-11 NIV)

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:12 NIV)

“He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,” (Titus 3:5 NIV)
