2015-06-16 - Sluggards
Hey My Friends,
What identifies a sluggard? A dictionary definition may define it like this:
Sluggard - one who is habitually lazy or slow.
Here are scriptures in God's Word, which define a Sluggard.
Go to an ant, you sluggard, consider it's ways, and be wise. It has no commander, no overseer, or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. Proverbs 6:6-8
The sluggard craves and gets nothing, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied. Proverbs 13:4 (ASV)
The way of the sluggard is blocked with thorns, but the path of the upright is a highway. Proverbs 15:19 (NIV)
The sluggard says, “There’s a lion outside!
I’ll be killed in the public square!” Proverbs 22:13 (NIV)
- I went past the field of a sluggard,
past the vineyard of someone who has no sense;
- thorns had come up everywhere,
the ground was covered with weeds,
and the stone wall was in ruins.
- I applied my heart to what I observed
and learned a lesson from what I saw:
- A little sleep, a little slumber,
a little folding of the hands to rest–
- and poverty will come on you like a thief
and scarcity like an armed man.
Proverbs 24:30-34 (NIV)
As a door turns on its hinges, so a sluggard turns on his bed, the sluggard buries his hands in a dish, he is to lazy to bring it back to his mouth. The sluggard is wiser in his own eyes, than seven men who answer discreetly. Proverbs 24:14-16 (NIV)
Think about all of this, and then ask yourself if you might be a sluggard, in any way. Pray and ask God to help you to be more conformed to the image of Christ, in those areas of your life which you identify.
I want my life to be for the glory of God in Christ Jesus
All scripture references are from the KJV (King James Version) unless otherwise noted.
