2015-05-25 - What Would King Jehoshaphat Say?
But at the close of his life, Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, went into partnership with Ahaziah, king of Israel, who was a very wicked man. (2 Chronicles 20:35 TLB)
Everyone makes mistakes-even kings; we're not infallible, even with our advisers and resources. I knew what it was like to have God on my side. I never thought I'd take that peace and serenity for granted.
I hope others can learn from my mistake. It would mean a great deal to me, to have some sort of restitution. Toward the end of my 25-year reign on the throne, I entered into a deal with the wicked Ahaziah, King of Israel without consulting the Lord. Both of us kings had an agreement to build a fleet of trading ships. God wasn't happy with my decision to work with Ahaziah, so the deal didn't get off the ground. The ships were wrecked, before they ever set sail. I didn't think our working together would hurt anyone, especially myself. The Lord is all-powerful. I hope I never forget this fact.
Lord, Help me consult You, when I don't know what to do. Thank You for Your care and love. In Jesus' name, Amen.
