2015-05-04 - What Would a Psalmist Say?
The Lord watches over you–the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. (Psalm 121:5-6)
I cannot quiet my heart. It's like my mind-jumping from one idea to the next. The only thing to do is stop and catch my breath. It's necessary, at this moment, to sing out loud. I utter the words I just wrote. Talking about the Lord is the only way to quiet my racing mind and heart. It's the only means to find true peace.
I look to God for answers. He is the maker of all things, including my anxious mind and wandering heart. He watches over me-He doesn't even need a break to sleep-that is how magnificent the Lord is. I am protected under the Lord's careful eye. I will not be harmed. I can breathe in and out more calmly now, realizing God is near.
Lord, I speak the reassuring words of Psalm 121:8. You will watch over my going and coming, "now and forevermore."
