[CF Devotionals] 2014-09-29 - What Would Pharaoh's Daughter Say?

- - - - - - -

Exodus 1:8-10, 2:1-10, Acts 7:21-22

"When the child grew older, she took him to Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son. She named him Moses, saying, 'I drew him out of the water.'" (Exodus 2:10)

I found a crying Hebrew baby, in a basket among the riverbank reeds. I felt sorry for him. In that moment, it did not matter that my father, the king, passed a law to kill all Hebrew male babies, in his effort to destroy God's people.

Something ignited in me, to take care of the abandoned baby. I did not consult my attendants, family, or seek wisdom from above before I agreed to adopt the forsaken infant. The decision was instantaneous.

I named my son Moses, which is very appropriate, for the name means son, child - while in Hebrew, Moses' native language, the name means drawn out of the water.

Lord, I pray for those children in need of a stable and safe home. May You lead them to solid and encouraging families. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
