2014-04-21 - What Would Mary Magdalene
Say?
John
20:13-18
Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: I
have seen the Lord! And she told them that he had said these things
to her. (John 20:18)
It's Him. It's Him! I couldn't exactly explain it, but I knew what I saw.
I thought the man was the gardener and asked him where I could find Jesus'
body. All the time it was Jesus. It wasn't until the man said my name, Mary,
that I knew it was my Lord! That one word was all it took.
I witnessed Jesus' death and His burial. There was no question that He died.
I and other followers watched the whole proceedings. So for Jesus to be standing,
breathing, and talking, has to be a miracle.
Jesus asked me to find the disciples and tell them that He, the Messiah has
risen. I obeyed. The white linens were left behind and the tomb opened for
proof of Jesus' temporary humanity and His unjust pain.
Lord, I am glad the story does not end with Jesus being
left in the tomb. That was just a part of Your plan to save us from our selfish
selves. God, how You must have celebrated at Jesus' and my rebirth. In Jesus'
name I pray, Amen.
