2014-04-02 - The Faintest
Light
One night fairly recently, I was having some trouble falling asleep. My back
was aching, and I was trying to find a more comfortable position so I could
relax. It was one of those moments that I thought about how dark I felt on
a spiritual level. Exercise, prayer, study and different things - to try
and help left me - left me feeling quite dark.
Then I looked over across the room, and on top of the computer desk was the
wireless internet box. It had some small green flashing lights on it, and
so in the midst of near complete darkness, there was light. I started to
think about how that is so spiritually relevant.
Even in the midst of what seems like spiritual darkness, there is always
a small ray of light that eliminates darkness. Inviting Jesus into your life,
to be the boss of everything, means he is your light. He will take the heat.
He will manage things, so when it seems completely unbearable, there will
be a way out in his timing. He will lift your spirits and show you that small
little light, to remind you hes still there.
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness
has not overcome it. (John 1:5)
See to it, then, that the light within you is not
darkness. (Luke 11:35)
You, Lord, are my lamp; the Lord turns my darkness
into light. (2 Samuel 22:29)
he is like the light of morning at sunrise on a
cloudless morning, like the brightness after rain that brings grass from
the earth. (2 Samuel 23:4)
He reveals the deep things of darkness and brings
utter darkness into the light. (Job 12:22)
For with you is the fountain of life; in your light
we see light. (Psalm 36:9)
